IPA South Africa’s 36th National Council Meeting hosted by IPA West Coast<\/h1>\n

The West Coast of South Africa has become renowned as an idyllic haven away from the hustle and bustle of modern-day life. People from all walks of life descend on these shores annually looking to reclaim their love for life and recharge their batteries. The charming fishing village of Velddrif is the ideal place for the next National Council Meeting as it offers solitude, tranquillity and sincere hospitality – all key ingredients for the perfect Meeting venue.<\/p>\n

The 2021 National Council Meeting will therefore be held at the Riviera Hotel, Velddrif and hosted by the West Coast Region.\u00a0 The Riviera Hotel is located in Velddrif and situated on the Berg River. Also in close proximity to many shops, restaurants and other such convenient amenities.<\/p>\n

Velddrif is a coastal fishing town in the Bergrivier Local Municipality, Western Cape, South Africa. It is located near the estuary where the Berg River flows into St. Helena Bay.\u00a0 The estuary is filled with wildlife and is home to around 30\u00a0000 birds.\u00a0 Of the 30\u00a0000 different bird species found in the area, 80 species are endemic to the Cape Coast.<\/p>\n

IPA West Coast Region is looking forward to hosting this event with IPA colleagues\/friends\/visitors from South Africa and Africa.<\/p>\n

  1. Cost<\/strong> – R3,250.00<\/em><\/strong><\/span> per person to attend the conference.<\/li>\n
  2. Bookings<\/strong> – Registration and Payment must be completed and paid in full by 30 September 2021<\/strong><\/span>. No refunds after cut-off date.<\/em><\/li>\n
  3. Accommodation<\/strong> – IPA delegates\/observers\/visitors and friends will only be accommodated for the entire period in question as the package given to the International Police Association (IPA) is available only on this condition.\u00a0 This includes visitors and guest accompanying delegates and those arriving unannounced.<\/li>\n
  4. Visitors<\/strong> – As decided during the previous National Council Meeting there will be no program for visitors. Visitors are more than welcome but will be responsible to entertain themselves.\u00a0 As you are aware there are a variety of activities to entertain everyone\u2019s needs in and around Velddrif.<\/li>\n
  5. Transportation<\/strong> – Each attendee is liable for their own transport. The Riviera Hotel is located 158km away from Cape Town International Airport.\u00a0 IPA West Coast Region will NOT be able to assist with transportation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Things to do<\/em><\/strong><\/h5>\n

    To truly experience the amazing birdlife that Velddrif has to offer, try Tollies River and Boat<\/strong>\u00a0Cruises. Beautiful sunset and birdwatching cruises are on offer, as well as morning and midday\u00a0cruises. Safety comes first on these cruises and children are sure to love it!<\/p>\n

    For a local cultural experience the West Coast Art Gallery<\/strong> showcases the unique work of some of\u00a0the leading artists and craftsmen along the West Coast. You’ll\u00a0also find the only reed maze\u00a0in South Africa here.<\/p>\n

    If you want to make the most of the outdoors, perhaps a kayaking<\/strong> trip from Hopefield to Velddrif\u00a0would entice you. Berg River Canooze offers a relaxing, downstream trip, stopping at various\u00a0farms en route. You will find an abundance of birdlife along this route so there is no shortage of\u00a0scenic beauty<\/p>\n

    The Berg River Canoe Marathon<\/strong> takes place once a year, beginning in Paarl and ending in\u00a0Velddrif. It takes place in July when the Berg River is at its highest, and spans some 212km. If you\u00a0are up for it, this is the ultimate canoeing challenge and one of the toughest water races in the\u00a0Western Cape.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    The Cape West Coast Biosphere Reserve<\/strong> stretches all the way from Diep River, in Cape Town,\u00a0to\u00a0the Berg River of Velddrif. Biosphere trails are offered for groups of up to 12 people, these trails lead\u00a0you through all the breathtaking flora of this conserved area. Trails are guided and catered for and\u00a0all meals are prepared locally in West Coast style.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0Where to eat<\/em><\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Oupa se Kos an Koffiestoor<\/strong> is the spot to go for freshly ground coffee, breakfasts, burgers and light\u00a0meals. It’s the\u00a0perfect place for a good coffee and a quick bite to eat.<\/p>\n

    Famous for its delicious Sunday buffet lunch, the Riviera Hotel<\/strong> also offers friendly service and\u00a0beautiful views. Sports fans will be happy to know there is a big screen TV, as well as a bar if you\u00a0fancy a drink or two.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    Die Vishuis<\/strong> is situated on the banks of the Berg River, overlooking the old wooden jetties where\u00a0giant pelicans like to bask in the sun. Die Vishuis is primarily a fish and seafood restaurant, but\u00a0other items are also served. This restaurant was once a real vishuis, you will see the shells still\u00a0embedded in the original sand walls.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    Teyana<\/strong>\u2019s Restaurant and Pub offers delicious food, wine and music, as well as wonderful views\u00a0of the Berg River.<\/p>\n
